Richard Taylor is the senior partner of Taylor, McCord & Praver. He has been practicing law in Ventura since he was admitted to the Bar in 1968.
Richard was born in Santa Monica, California, graduated from the University of Oregon ( B.A. 1963) and Hastings College of Law, University of California (LL.B,. 1966 ). Richard's practice emphasizes family law. He holds one of the first AV ratings (the highest rating possible from the only national rating service for lawyers) held by a family law attorney in this county.
Richard is a past president and one of the original founders of the Ventura County Family Bar Association. He has been active in the Ventura Jaycees, the Ventura Chamber of Commerce and the Buenaventurans. For three years he taught Family Law at Ventura College of Law. Richard has acted on numerous occasions as Judge Pro Tempore in the Ventura Family Law Courts. He is a member of the State Bar of California. Richard is president of the Ventura Community College Foundation which raises money for the scholarships and capital improvements at Ventura College.
In their 39 years together, Richard and his wife, Kristin, have traveled extensively, usually to little-known corners of the world, where they have shared many hair-raising adventures. Bicycling and running are activities they engage in at home and while traveling. Richard and Kriss have twin sons, Mike and Rob who have graduated from graduate schools at Stanford and Harvard.
